Sharing allows users to create direct access links to content on the Drive. It is an option to allow other users to access files and folders from a top-level Shared with me node in the application. When a folder is shared, all subfolders and files become available to a selected list of users or groups. Additionally or exclusively, a link can be created to the shared folder for global, anonymous access.
Users can only access shared files and subfolders with additional permissions if they have those permissions. Linked folders can never be accessed by users in a shared folder environment, and new links can not be created here. Also, no new permissions can be set.
Users with the system permission to read Users and Groups can also set restrictions here. Users with whom a folder is shared can access it immediately from the Shared with me top-level node. Folders shared with others become immediately available to them.
The node will be available to all users to whom the folder is shared with at least the read permission. Here the default drive permissions are overridden by the sharing permissions. However, subfolders with custom drive permissions will only be available to users if explicitly allowed.
Note: Links that are located in shared folders are never displayed.
Users with system permission to Create sharing links can also create publicly available links that users can open anonymously without an account on the INETAPP server. Additional settings can be made to remove the sharing link after a specified date. A password can also be set to secure access to this link.
All users with access to the Drive will automatically gain access to folders shared with a direct link.
